116. How does an out of network option affect treatment?

An out of network option allows you considerably more choice in selecting a psychologist, and also allows you to select someone with expertise treating your problem. If the deductible and out of pocket expenses are reasonable, then out of network options can allow you access to considerably broader treatment options for very little additional cost.

If a plan does not offer an out of network option, it probably also has many other restrictions designed to discourage you from seeking treatment.
